Is a patch for Scummvm 1.6.0, please?

Post  gaula92 on Tue Nov 19, 2013 4:38 pm

Hi there, Pix!

I'm still perplex the scummvm team hasn't merged your patches...
I'm trying to build a Raspberry Pi version of Scummvm with Kyrandia MT32 sountrack, and MT32 emulation is WAY above Raspberry Pi's CPU capabilities, so your patches are a life saver here! Very Happy

Do you have an updated version against Scumm 1.6.0, wich is the latest stable version?

Thanks!

No, I don't think I've even looked at this in going on a year. I like the idea of it running on the Pi though, I'll try to have a go at patching 1.6 in the next week or so. It shouldn't be a big job provided there haven't been any sweeping changes since the last version.

Great! I'll be waiting patiently! Very Happy
Do you have a Pi, Pix?

I've not picked one up yet but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. I've got a Pandora which kind of fills the same needs but I can think of a few projects where the Pi would be perfect (if I ever get around to any of them).

As for the new scummVM build, I've got as far as setting everything up to compile the vanilla 1.6.0 so I'm at least in a position to start on it.

I've got 1.6.0 ready to go now. I've only tested as far as starting up a game in each patched engine but it looks to be working as well as it ever did if you want to try to get it running on the Pi.

I just got time to compile and play on the Pi today! Works great (almost)!
Ogg is pretty much cpu-intensive for the Pi, so there's the occasional hiccup. It also happens in vanilla 1.6.0.
The solution would be to use FLAC instead of OGG tracks (and hence to depend on the way faster, at least on the Pi, libflac library, instead or vorbis or tremor).
Is that a lot of work?

Can't remember if I ever looked at this before. As long as the scummVM sound libraries I'm using for a particular game are set up to work with FLAC's then it wouldn't be a big deal to add them in as an option, maybe just a case of checking for a different file extension. If not then it could be quite a bit of work and not something I fancy taking on. I'll have a look and let you know. I don't have the original recordings so you'll have to convert the audio files yourself if I do get it working.

Of course! I can do the conversion myself it it's just a matter of filenames Smile
I have libflac already installed as it's what I use for "vanilla" scummvm on the Pi.

I finally got round to having a look at this but it looks like FLAC is already supported by default. So far I've tried Simon2, Loom, Conquests Of Camelot and Legend Of Kyrandia and all of those work with the Windows build without any changes. That should cover the majority of game engines. Is there any particular game that wasn't working?
